Have You Ever Heard of “The Beer Barrel Polka?”
In my book, "A Salesman", I didn't know many songs and much of what I learned came from my family. Well, my father drank a lot, bootlegged in the woods. My mother on the other hand wanted me to join the local church and sing in the choir. My audition came up and I only knew one song - my Dads drinking song, "The Beer Barrel Polka." On stage in I began to sing: Roll out the barrel! We'll have a barrel of fun. Roll out the barrel! We've got blues on the run. Zing, boom, tarerrel! Ring out a song of good cheer. Now's the time to roll the barrel, for the gangs all here!
My mother was furious and humiliated with what I had done that snatched me up off stage and scolded me over and over. She never asked me to sing again. My singing career was over. I guess it was just not for me in my future and even my mother knew.
Many stories of my early years has molded me to be "A Salesman". I would like to share my story with you. Click here to buy my book and let's chat.
